DUAL VISION — Exploring Identity, Power and the Other
Mumbai, October 2026: Sculptor Yash Chaulkar presents Dual Vision, a solo exhibition at Jehangir Art Gallery, exploring the shifting relationship between identity, perception, power and the self. Through an immersive installation of sculptures and masks, the exhibition examines the dualities that shape human experience, challenging the boundaries between dominance and submission, control and vulnerability, and the observer and the observed. Drawing upon the theatrical nature of masks and the constructed idea of the self, Chaulkar’s works invite viewers to question their own position in relation to the artwork.
Are we merely observers, exercising power through our gaze, or are we participating in a vision shaped by the artist? The exhibition brings together figurative marble sculptures, metal castings and abstract forms, each carrying a distinct physical presence and psychological resonance. Fragmented faces, exaggerated features and intricate forms evoke imagined identities and untold narratives, balancing raw materiality with emotional depth. Through Dual Vision, Chaulkar creates a space where fiction generates real feelings, and where neither the artist nor the viewer holds absolute control. The works become reflections of the self, revealing the complexities and contradictions of being human.
This show will be inaugurated on 27th October 2026 at 5pm by Honourable Guests - Smt. Urmila Kanoria Chairperson of Kanoria Centre of Arts, Ahmedabad, Mr. Anant Singhania CEO, JK Enterprises & Director, JK Organization
