21 June 2026 (Sunday) | 4:00 PM – 6:30 PM

The National Gallery of Modern Art (NGMA), Mumbai, presents STONE MUSIC India Tour 2026, a unique cultural event featuring renowned Japanese artist and musician Tokio Hasegawa. The program begins with a special lecture, "The Future of Indian Folk Art," exploring the relevance of traditional art practices in a rapidly changing world.

The second part features STONE MUSIC, an experimental performance that combines sound, movement, nature, and ritual. Drawing inspiration from Japanese culture and diverse world traditions, Hasegawa collaborates with international musicians and performers to create an immersive artistic experience.

Using elements such as stone, bamboo, shadow, and environmental sound, the performance reflects on humanity's relationship with nature, animals, and cultural heritage. Blending music, performance art, and meditation-like movement, STONE MUSIC invites audiences to contemplate coexistence, creativity, and the universal language of art.

This special event is supported by cultural institutions from India and Japan, promoting international artistic dialogue and contemporary interpretations of folk traditions.
